Whatever your day’s activities – there are essential items we here at ABLE recommend you have ready to go before each day’s adventure.
Some Examples of things that can make the difference between a comfortable or uncomfortable outing for our mates with disabilities are:
- sunblock
- water
- beach towels
- healthy snacks
- umbrellas
Contacting the participants’ parents/guardians prior to the day’s activities and letting them know what your plans are for the upcoming day and essentials to pack for the will set everyone up for success. This can be a great independence building activity for the participant – creating a list of items they need and following that list to pack their own bag.
As a carer myself, I encourage my gang to always have a bottle of water, a hat, some cool sunnies, and a healthy snack like a banana they can have while we’re on the move.
